LeMONS: BOSTON TOW PARTY & OVERHEAD CAM BAKE

24-25 July at Stafford Motor Speedway

Racing Saturday noon-10 and Sunday noon-5

Spectators: $20 grandstand, $40 all-access.

(All tickets sold at the gate. All tickets good all weekend. Kids 10 and under free.)


WHAT YOU'LL SEE
-Pintos and Peugeots battling Trans-Ams on track
-Knuckleheads teams who are better at beer-pong than race prep
-$500 racecars under the illusion they might actually win
-Bad drivers punished like dogs in cartoons (tar and feathers, anyone?)

-Overpaid primadonnas. Or, um, underpaid primadonnas
-Pit crews with ballet-like precision. Or a clue

No Pit Access available Friday; early arrivals must park in the spectator lot until 7am Saturday morning.

Saturday, 24 July 2010 
7am: Paddock Gates Open
7:30-10am: Check-in (no check-ins past 10am)
8-10:30am: Mandatory Tech Inspection
11:15am: Mandatory Drivers' Meeting
Noon-10pm: Race Session I

Sunday, 25 July 2010
9am: Gates open. No race motors before noon.
11am: Mandatory Drivers' Meeting
11:30am: People's Curse
Noon: Race Motors Allowed
12:15-5pm: Race Session II
5pm: Checkered Flag
5:30pm: Awards Ceremony
7pm: Gates Close
7:30pm: Giant carnivorous deer ticks released

THE CARS
Lights: Headlights, taillights, and sidemarkers removed
Rear side and back glass:Removed
Noise Limit: 92dB @ 50 feet
 
PITS & PADDOCK (APPLIES TO RACERS ONLY!)
Overnight Camping: Friday night OK in the outer lots; Saturday night OK in the paddock.
Vehicle Restrictions in Paddock:No motorized pit bikes
Pit Assignments: First-come, first-served
Barbecues Allowed: Not in the paddock. Spectator lot outside the paddock is fair game.
Running Water: In restrooms
Bathrooms: Flush and run
Electrical Hookups: No
Pit Hours: Dark and quiet after midnight
Fuel Sold On-Site: No
; The nearest fuel station is about five minutes outside the track. You can fuel your car at the track, but there are no pumps there. It's best to bring several five-gallon jugs, fill them at the station, and have them on hand in your paddock spot during the race. You can shuttle back out to the station as needed.


FUEL RULES: MINIMUM 2-HOUR PENALTY FOR ANY INFRACTION
Where: In paddock space only, details TBA during Driver's Meeting (don't bug us before then)

Who: Two people minimum with one holding extinguisher while fueling from jugs

Gear: All people in fuel area must wear the same safety gear as a driver when fueling from jugs

Car: Engine and kill switch must be off during fueling

Driver changes: No one allowed in the car during fueling; driver swaps OK when fueling complete

Other notes: Absolutely no other work allowed during fueling (tire checks, fluid checks, etc). You may fuel at the gas pumps without Nomex. Bring cardboard sheets or drip pans to catch spills

Stafford Motor Speedway is located at the intersection of Route 140 and West Street in Stafford Springs CT. Stafford Springs is about a half-hour north of Hartford CT, 80 minutes west of Providence RI, and 90 minutes southwest of Boston MA.

From Hartford CT: Take I-84 to Exit 70; turn left on Route 32 North; follow to Route 140 West.

From Providence RI: Take Route 44 to Route 74; follow to Route 32 North; then follow Route 140 West.

From Springfield MA: Follow I-91 South to Route 190 East (Stafford Springs Exit). Take Route 190 East to Route 140 in Stafford Springs.

 

From Boston MA: Take the Mass Pike to the Sturbridge/I-84 Exit. Take I-84 West to Exit 73. Follow Route 190 West to Route 140 in Stafford Springs.
